FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How long is a sports management degree?
The length of a sports management degree depends on the level of study and the format. A bachelor’s degree in sports management typically takes three to four years to complete. A postgraduate programme, such as an PG in Sports Management, usually lasts 12 to 18 months full-time, or up to 2 years if studied part-time or online.
Unisport’s PG in Sports Management lasts 40 weeks, equivalent to 10 months.
How much does a sports manager earn?
The salary of a sports manager can vary widely based on location, experience, and the type of organisation. In the UK, entry-level sports managers typically earn £25,000 to £35,000 per year, while those in more senior roles or working with professional teams or global brands can earn £50,000 or more annually. In other countries, such as the US or UAE, salaries may be significantly higher depending on the market. Earning potential often increases with a specialised qualification, such as an MSc in sports management.

Why study a PG in Sports Management?
A Postgraduate Diploma in Sports Management is an excellent choice for those looking to build a professional career in sports administration and leadership. These programmes provide specialist training in key areas of the sports sector and help develop essential management and leadership skills. It’s also a growing industry with strong demand for qualified professionals.
What’s the difference between a PG diploma, PG certificate, and full MSc in sports management?
A PG certificate is typically a short, entry-level qualification focused on foundational concepts. A PG diploma, like this one, offers a more in-depth, practical education with 120 credits and covers all key areas of sports management. A full MSc is a more academic and research-oriented programme that usually includes a thesis and takes longer to complete.
How do I know which graduate program suits me best?
It depends on your goals, background, and time availability. If you’re looking for a well-rounded, practical programme to boost your career in sports without writing a thesis, the PG diploma in sports management is a great choice. If you prefer a shorter introduction, a PG certificate may be enough. If you’re aiming for academic research or a university teaching path, consider an MSc.

The PG Diploma in Sports Management from Unisport offers 120 credits, real industry access, expert-led training, internships, and career support: far beyond what most short PG certificates provide.
Is this programme suitable for someone with no background in sports?
Yes. No prior sports experience is needed. The programme starts from the basics and gives you all the tools to launch or grow your career in the sports industry.
What does a sports manager do?
Sports management professionals are responsible for the planning, organisation, leadership, and coordination of sports entities, organisations, and events. This includes managing finances, marketing, people, safety, logistics, and more. The goal is to deliver successful sports projects and ensure efficient use of resources.
